Seven Random Tidbits
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mums and Mums-to-be! Hope you’ve been spoiled rotten today!
I have been tagged by the delightful Pip of Meet Me At Mikes with the 7 Random Facts/Habits meme that has been making the blog rounds lately.
Rules:
>> List seven random facts/habits about yourself
>> Choose another seven bloggers to tag and list their names in your blog
>> Leave your seven tagged bloggers comments to notify them of their tagging and to direct them to your blog for tag instructions.

1. I now work for the same company that my Mum did when she and my dad first arrived in Australia 30 years ago.
2. I have one sibling (a younger brother). When I was in primary school, I hated being the eldest and wished I had more siblings and was a middle child instead. Whenever the teachers asked us to draw a picture of our families, I always drew my Mum, Dad, my brother and I - plus an additional 6 older siblings! I wonder if any of my teachers ever found out the truth :-)
3. My first love is creative writing. When I was 16, I set a goal to have a published novel by age 30. Didn’t happen :-(

4. Following from point 3, I am a HUGE fan of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. My favourite book is “The Silmarillion“, which is the history of Middle Earth and tells of its creation. I am excited to be picking up a copy of the recently completed and released “The Children of Hurin“.
5. I am not the kind of person who can work well in silence - I need to have music playing in the background. Even when I was studying for exams in Uni, I always had the radio on.

6. My first name was originally spelt “Djhoanna“. Fortunately, my Mum dropped the “D” right after I was born. Of course, my dad claims that he just made up the spelling while filling out the paper work at the hospital :-)
7. Bitter melon makes me gag - not so much because of its bitterness but because I was force-fed it as a kid. It’s a Filipino delicacy. YUCK.
As for tagging, if you are reading this right now then I tag YOU!

Random Photos above:
1) Baby Chibi Doll with owl in front pocket - pattern will be available very soon!
2) Mr Cheery Chimp - pattern is in the works and will be available soon
3) Patchwork scarf I made for myself, using shantung linen and fabrics from Japan and Moda (with slate-grey cotton on the other side).
4) More patchwork scarves - a few piles cut and ready to be sewn. I need to make 12 in total by the end of the month :-)

Dear Jhoanna,
After reading about your dolls on Janets blog,I made a doll with your tutorial and I am sooooo happy with her! After I finished Tilly I made another doll named Milly with different hair, body and limbs.I love how they both turned out and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing the tutorial.
Many dutch greetings Dees
Your monkey is so sweet…love his face & his tie! And btw, I hate bitter melon, too. Yuck, yuck, yuck! Fortunately, there aren’t too many places here where my mum can get, otherwise we’d be declining dinner invites all the time ;-)
[...] one last thing. One Red Robin tagged anyone who was listening with the 7 Random tidbits meme so here [...]
I did your meme :)
Colour combo’s for the scarves look wonderful!
My first love is creative writing too, Jhoanna. I always thought I’d be published much sooner, but three books (nearly four) later all I have is a pile of rejection slips, albeit some with encouraging comments.
But the good thing is, I know I’ve tried (am trying) to chase my dreams and that down the track I won’t be saying those dreaded words “I wish I had…” :)
Gorgeous monkey by the way…
I finally got to come to your blog, our silly computer wouldn’t let me visit for a while! Happy Mother’s Day and I love your new toys and Dolls! It’s great to learn more about you from your random facts too!
