On My (Messy) Desk . . .

. . . are a few critter faces for softies I am making for the Crammed Organisms show in the USA in June; “Tell the Time with Miffy” by Dick Bruna, which my almost-2-year-old asks me to read to her everyday; and a sweet Babushka doll and her 7 tiny kids, handmade in Russia and found in this gorgeous shop in Melbourne.
And in my head, on repeat, is this song by Yael Naim:

Hi Jhoanna, so are those softie faces printed onto cotton or something, or are they paper ideas for painting later? I’d never thought of printing a face before but it’s a great idea because you could make softies with actual people’s faces on them… hmmmm…. :-) andi
Poor Babushka Mama..7 bee-bees. No wonder she puts them in a box (doll box i.e.) Old Mother Hubbard-off.
I love Miffy, which is probably a good thing, because Miffy is EVERYWHERE here in Japan. I can’t wait to see the finished softies. I love that song by Yael Naim–definitely not a bad one to get stuck in your head!
I love the Babushka dolls!!
Isn’t the Babushka shop divine?
I love that Babushka shop! I’ve been meaning to order some plain ones from them so that I can have a go painting my own.
How are you going with your Crammed Organisms journey? I got accepted too and it’s my first plush show so I’m freaking out just a tad! Can’tsleepmustsew…
Wow with everything going around here I still need to get to my C.O. projects too!!
Congratulations on the front page of M! Well done!
