Jhoanna Monte Aranez Thankful for another opportunity to have some of my softies published in a book, especially since I haven't made softies in a while :-)

I took advantage of it being school holidays and took the girls on a surprise weekend away to the Gold Coast in Queensland. They didn’t know until the night before we left, just before they got into bed :-) Despite the girls having tummy bugs a few days before the departure date and me slipping on some motor oil in a car parking lot and spraining my foot just 3 days before we left (clumsy much?), the weekend turned out to be awesome fun!
The weather was fantastic. We spent one day at Dreamworld:
And one day at Movieworld. It was our first time to visit Movieworld and we only managed to stay in one part of the park. There were so many people! We also got to catch the parade and the girls were so happy to get their faces painted.
Sometimes you just need to escape reality for a little while and go on some fun park rides! :-)

Back from a little break from online life of sorts, refreshed and ready. Being a single parent can leave you exhausted (an understatement perhaps?) but it does make you focus, and choose to spend your effort and energy, on who and what is truly important in your life now and will be in the future.
I am excited about the next few weeks. I’ve got two more giveaways lined up for you wonderful readers/commenters/lurkers :-). I won’t lie – one of the many things I do love about having a blog is the opportunity I get to partner with companies to provide some very cool giveaways. Granted, they are not as big as Oprah’s giveaways, but they are SO MUCH FUN to be involved in! So keep an eye on the blog for a fantastic giveaway by Lego (who doesn’t love Lego??) and another competition where you get the chance to win $1000 just by leaving a comment!! How cool is that?!
I’m really, really looking forward to doing some super fun activities with the girls this week while they are on school holidays. Between you and me, I think it will be quite epic :-) By the way, we went to the cinema to watch Despicable Me in 3D last week. Have you seen it? It is HILARIOUS!! The 3 of us really enjoyed it and want to see it again. I was also entertained watching my 6-year-old jumping out of her seat, shouting and squealing and, by far, laughing louder than everyone else in the cinema!
Speaking of movies, here are 2 more I am hoping to catch over the next few weeks:
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga Hoole
One word: OWLS. This is going to be AWESOME!!!
Eat, Pray, Love
I’m also a fan of Julia Roberts and I read this book in a matter of days at the beginning of the year and totally LOVED IT, so there is no way I am missing out on this film!
How about you? What are the things you are looking forward to/excited about this week or in the next few weeks?
Congratulations ladies! I will be in touch with you soon with more details on your prizes.
I think it’s time for me to go on a short blog/twitter break to focus on offline life for a few days or so. I’ve been thinking a lot about rainbows . . . and somewhere, over it, skies are probably a little more blue.
This recently finished Ze Bun-bun is looking how I’m feeling at the moment.
So I’ve turned my attention to something more colourful to snap me out of this funk. More pics soon! :-)
Don’t forget to enter the Mooo Height Chart and Wall Sticker giveaway – last day to enter is tomorrow! Also Mooo is giving away 50 x $100 vouchers in the month of September so make sure you head on over to their website for details: Club Mooo
Something I had forgotten to put up when we moved to our new (old) home a few months ago was a height chart for the girls. It’s such a thrill for them to see that line next to their name go higher and higher on a height chart every few weeks (although not so thrilling for me because it is proof that they are growing up too fast! Boo hoo).
Mooo recently contacted me about their new range of height charts and very generously sent me a chart for the girls. Talk about serendipitous timing!
I’ve tried a few height charts in the past that required sticky tape or blu tack and it would always fall off every few days (such a pain to have to put it back up repeatedly). This height chart sticks securely flat against the wall AND you can peel it off just as easily without any damage left behind if you wanted to move it elsewhere.
Gorgeous designs in wonderful colour combinations. I had a hard time picking just one design and colour combination since I wanted to the girls to share one chart.
Personalisation! This is, of course, what Mooo is all about. I’ve got both the girls’ names on the chart and even though it might be a fairly small piece of detail to us adults, to them it really makes this chart super special :-)
Mooo have also released a new range of wall stickers too – I particularly like Springville. They have a wonderful range of mix’n'match wall stickers too. Again, these stickers simply peel off if they need to be moved around.
So to spread the word about these new ranges, Mooo are very kindly providing two giveaways – one height chart and one wall-sticker pack! To be in the running, all you need to do is go on over to Mooo’s Height Chart page ORWall Sticker page and pick ONE product that you like the best (e.g. Birdie Stack Height Chart in Iceland).
Then come back to this post and leave a comment stating the product (please pick only one product – either from the Height Chart range OR the Wall Sticker pack range). Please get your comments in by 12 midnight, Friday 10th September (AEST).
Then on the following Sunday, I will separately collate all the comments left for Height Charts and all the comments left for Wall Sticker packs, and randomly draw a winner from each. Details of the winners will be provided to Mooo and they will send the winners the product that they have picked! Easy!!
Super-absorbent bibs for my newest nephew. Just have to hammer in those press studs. I love making these – a quick, easy and satisfying project, especially for the time-poor (like me!).
I’ve mocked up my own pattern for these bibs but if you’re looking for free bib patterns, try these:
