LEGO Games: Creationary Giveaway!

Posted Sunday 3 October 2010 and filed under: Just Sharing

I have great memories of playing with Lego as a child. It’s one of those toys that you can spend hours on and it’s exponentially better when you have others to play it with you. Amongst other things, I loved making jet fighter planes out of Lego with my cousins :-)

Lego recently launched a range of Games and I was sent the ‘Creationary‘ game to try out with the girls.

Creationary is much like the classic Pictionary but with Lego :-) You roll the dice, which is covered in different categories, and then pick a card (Easy, Medium Difficulty or very Difficult). You then use the Lego to make the object on the card, belonging to category you’ve rolled on the dice. And the other players try to guess what it is!

There are other modes of play depending on the number of players in the game. It’s recommended for children 7 years and older, and I think kids younger than this would still enjoy the game but would need some extra help with recreating some of the objects (like my girls did). However, it does mean that big kids (like you and me!) can join in too!

I think it’s a really fun twist to your standard board game and a great excuse for the whole family to play with some Lego :-)

And the good news is that Lego are generously offering two Creationary games to giveaway!!

If you’d like to be in the running to win, just a leave comment on this post by midnight, Friday 8th October (AEST). In your comment, let me know what board game you’d love to see incorporated with Lego. Next Sunday, two winners will be drawn randomly.

Thanks Lego!

What a great idea and giveaway! My 5 year old daughter is just starting to get into Lego and this way of playing with it would suit her perfectly. She’s not much into building big towers or structures, she’s more interested in making things that she can then use to play imaginative games – like ponies rescuing a cat. :)

My boys LIVE and BREATHE Lego! They make anything and everything out of it – last night my 10 y/o made his own lego Dr Who set, complete with the Dr, Amy Pond, sonic screwdriver and a dalek! I have even known them to go to sleep with a lego catalogue under their pillow – probably so they can dream about lego!

Monopoly Schmopoly!!Nice idea girls, but no!!

The next big thing in Lego, really needs to be Lego “Guess Who”! That would be totally, awesomely cool! In our house, we love Minifigs the best, so “Guess Who” would basically be a whole game of Minifig building!!

Have a look on the Lego website too – there’s a great looking Robot game where you build your own robots! That’s also on my boys’ Christmas list. We do have to be a little careful though, as our Little Miss does quite like the taste of all of the colourful bricks!

I think Lego should make a boardgame based on Travel the World!

The players need to assemble different countries based on the shape and colour by picking a card from a shuffled deck. Every country to be assembled must have the same number of lego pieces. Players will take turns collecting the correct coloured lego pieces that fit and the correct monuments for that country. The winner will be the player who manages to assemble the respective country with monuments and gather the correct lego people with their national costumes for that country.
Should be fun and be called something like United Nations of Lego!
