New Art Print/Illustration: Abandon

Posted Sunday 26 February 2012 and filed under: Prints, Patterns & Fabric

I’ve always wanted to draw a ballerina. Stuck in a bit of a rut this past week (and also battling the flu), I was very much lacking inspiration. Thankfully a friend gave me a few tips to get me motivated again, and the ballerina came back into mind.

I wanted this one to be about movement and freedom. A ballerina completely caught up in the moment, dancing to the music with reckless abandon. I hope I was able to capture some of that in this drawing :-)

After drawing her in ink, I thought about how she should be coloured but then decided to leave her as is and instead place her on a warm-ish background of yellows and oranges.

I hope you like her!
