In My Sketchbook: Ah. Escape. Recharge. Bliss.
I love drawing. I really do.
I’m thankful that I have a day job and most days I do enjoy it. But my day job simply cannot beat those quiet moments at the end of the day when the kids are happily in dreamland, and I’m sitting in front of a blank piece of paper, paints/markers/pencils on hand, inspiration in mind, a hot cup of tea and a sweet treat sitting not too far away.
I don’t have to analyse anything; no one is asking me “how do you think we should handle this?”; I don’t have to think about how my decisions will please/displease others or how it will impact other projects; I don’t have to check a schedule to see how I’m tracking; and I’m not sitting in front of a computer screen.
Ah. Escape. Recharge. Bliss.
I completed this illustration over the weekend. I’m loving fashion-inspired illustration at the moment. It’s a fun challenge – working on the human form, the outfit details, and trying to do both within some kind of composition.
Inspiration is from Hong Kong Harpers’ Bazaar (I think it was the July 2012 issue?). Pencil + Markers + Watercolour Paint.
